My daughter is 3 and insists she is sleeping beauty. The walls will be pale blue with clouds on the top 1/3 of the walls and on the ceiling. Then I'm painting a mural that I downloaded off of an online coloring book. The mural is of her castle in the background with pretty green hills and with sleeping beauty in the foreground, with prince phillip on his horse. I think I need about a dozen paint colors. I'm exhausted thinking about it. I'm starting tomorrow.

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

Tyler,

Well, how did it come out? Sorry for being the intrusive mom, but I'm on a mission to do this room too. I'm going nuts and even trying the trellis wall. Any tips for me? I was dismayed to find out those stencils are not available for purchase. Making my own out of the downloadable .pdf files is going to be interesting. My husband is going to help on that front. If you have any tipes, I would love to hear them before I embark on this adventure!

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

Wow,

That is a really lovely room - the decor is truly fit for a princess ;)

Andy

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

Someone has you wrapped around her finger!

Painting is the quickest way to make the biggest impact on a room. I love the idea you had about using the same color in two different sheens. I did that for my daughter's nursery too.

The first time I painted a room, I used the roller first, then did the trim. I had a lovely band around the top of the room. Next time, and every time thereafter, I didn't wait for the paint to dry when switching from roller to trim brush. I was up and down a lot, but there was no visible band.

Elliott - 21st Century Dads last blog post..Happy Father’s Day

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

@Dad Of Divas: I'm looking forward to the results myself. I'm not sure how it will turn out, but I'm past the point of no return so I'll have to finish it somehow.
@Kori: I'm going to try and make the room fun without going completely overboard...I hope it will be something that she can live with for a long time.
@Jeremy: Great minds think alike! You're right - getting started IS the hardest part...I'll be sure to post some more pictures as the project comes to life. You did a great job on Caitlin's room.

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

We must have been thinking about the same things because I just did a post on the kids rooms too man! It's overwhelming to get started, but once you get going, things seem to come together pretty easily. I'm sure you'll do an awesome job on the princess room, and I look forward to seeing it.

Jeremy (Discovering Dad)s last blog post..Butterflies and Tiger Lilies - New Baby Room Pics

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

You are a good and nice dad, for sure! We have basic white-and will ALWAYS have basic white-because I don't see the sense in painting a room in a manner that means I am going to have to redo it all in a few years...so I know my daughter wishes she had parents like you!

Koris last blog post..Summer Has Arrived

Re: How To Paint The Perfect Princess Room: Just The Beginning

Holy Cow! I tell you you will be the true hero of your princess to make a room like this. I know Diva-J would flip if she had a room like this for herself.
