What an awesome roundup of tips! We were pretty lucky with number two -- number one was a helper by nature. Now that we're thinking about number three, this part gets a little scarier. Number two does not help. He bosses. It'll be an interesting ride no matter how it goes.

This is a great series. It's important for parents to know that they can make their children's lives a joy or a burden simply by how they handle this event. A small amount of thought and effort while your kids are learning, growing and developing will have an incalculable return later on in life.

@Tyler: Great timing on the release of this series. My daughter's first birthday is next week.

Having to write my story and reading the stories by Chris and Jeff bring back so many memories.

@Chris: Great idea to cook ahead of time. It's a great practice to carry forward too.

@Jeff: Bringing the first head cap home for the pets to sniff is brilliant. My daughter terrorizes the one cat. The other is smart enough to run away.
