The 'comment luv' and the 'subscribe to comments' I like and avail of when I can.
I like to see if a conversation is starting on a post Ive left a comment on.

In general, I think it's important to at least address your commenters, in a comment, in a mail, or even a return comment. Although I'm not a fan of commenting just for the sake of it, and I don't expect it either.

If commenters feel they are adding value, and are valued by you, they will return to see what you've got to say. Everything builds up from there.

...oh, and by the way, posting about humiliation always brings out the wisecracks...take it from me ;0)

(p.s. that 'notify me of follow up comments via email' text is VERY small)

Oh, I'm glad to know about the Avatar plugin. I didn't know you could do that. Very cool.

And now I TOTALLY have to go read your Massage post. Hahaha...
  • Tyler · 1 year ago
@Jason: Let me know how they work out for you!
@XBox: As always, you bring up some very good points. And yes - I don't want someone to comment just to comment. I hope they want to comment and add value to the conversation. I need to fix the CSS that is making the text so small...not sure how that happened.
@Brillig: Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.

Great additions--lots that we've been meaning to add to our site as well. Just wanted to leave a comment and check it out myself.

Can a person use those plugins when they're hosted on Blogger? That site is pretty restrictive and can be extremely difficult to customize, but I'm there and have a whole lot of history saved.

As for your massage post - it was a classic! Way too good to leave uncommented.

@The Wife: Thanks for the comment. I'm still trying to iron out a few wrinkles.
@Tom: I'm not 100% sure if you can use these on Blogger. I think there are some work-around's for Blogger - Let me know if I can help.
@Mrs. Right: Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you around.

Great advice. Especially to a relative novice who doesn't have a lot of extra time to find these on his own. I am going to check all of these out. A big thanks!
  • Tyler · 1 year ago
@Dad Of Divas: No problem - glad I could help. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.
@James: Great! There are many other comment love sort of plugins out there...if you do a search for "increase blog reader comments" you'll find many others that you might want to try.

Ok, I am having a bit of trouble at getting these to work on blogger...any suggestions..I downloaded a few and a few I have tried but in the new blogger I am having problems with integrating them into the HTML of the templates that I use for the site. Any help would be appreciated!
  • Tyler · 1 year ago
@Babbo: Cool - glad you liked the post. If there is anything I can help with, please let me know.
@Dad Of Divas: I'm not sure I'll be much help when it comes to the Blogger platform. When I installed these on Wordpress, I just activated the plugin and some magic happened in HTML world. I'll send you an email, but can you install plugins in Blogger? Or do you have to insert HTML code in your page templates?

I have almost all those plugins on my blogs which you have here but Akismet always creates some problems. We know why we do comments on other blogs(For links) but many of valid comments were going in Akismet. I think Akismet is doing something more than exception. So I disabled that and implemented a captcha plugin. Now I am very satisfied with progress.
